Terms and Conditions for Private Therapy Services from Dr Alexandra Priestner (Perinatal Psychology)
1. Introduction
These terms and conditions apply to all private therapy services provided by Dr Alexandra Priestner (“the Therapist”) specialising in perinatal psychology. By engaging in therapy with the Therapist, you (the “Client”) agree to the following terms.
2. Scope of Services
The Therapist provides psychological support and therapy for individuals and couples experiencing perinatal mental health challenges, including but not limited to:
• Pregnancy-related anxiety and depression
• Postpartum depression and anxiety
• Birth trauma
• Perinatal loss and grief
• Parenting support during the perinatal period
3. Confidentiality
All sessions are confidential. Information shared by the Client will not be disclosed to third parties without the Client’s written consent, except where disclosure is required by law (e.g., risk of harm to the Client or others, child protection concerns, or a court order).
4. Privacy and Data Protection
The Therapist complies with all relevant data protection laws, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). All personal data collected will be stored securely and used solely for the purpose of providing therapy services. Clients have the right to access their records and request corrections.
5. Session Structure
• Sessions typically last 50 minutes.
• The frequency of sessions will be agreed upon between the Client and Therapist and may vary depending on the Client’s needs.
• Sessions are available online (via secure video conferencing), or via phone.
6. Fees and Payment
• The standard fee for a 50-minute session is £140.
• Payment is due at the time of the session unless otherwise agreed upon.
• Payments can be made via accepted payment methods: e.g., bank transfer, card payment, etc.
7. Cancellations and Missed Appointments
• Clients must provide at least 48 hours’ notice for cancellation or rescheduling.
• Cancellations made with less than 48 hours’ notice, or missed appointments, will be charged at the full session rate unless there are extenuating circumstances.
• In case of an emergency, the Therapist will consider rescheduling on a case-by-case basis.
8. Therapist Availability and Communication
• The Therapist will make every effort to respond to messages within 24 hours during regular working hours (Monday to Friday).
• Therapy-related communications should be via email, and the Therapist will not respond to therapy-related inquiries via social media.
9. Crisis and Emergency Situations
The Therapist is not available for 24/7 crisis support. In case of an emergency, the Client should contact emergency services, a crisis hotline, or go to the nearest hospital.
10. Termination of Therapy
• Either the Client or the Therapist may terminate therapy at any time.
• The Therapist will provide referrals to other professionals if necessary, especially if they believe the Client requires more specialized care or different therapeutic approaches.
• If the Client does not attend sessions for a prolonged period without prior notice, the Therapist reserves the right to terminate therapy.
11. Client Responsibilities
• The Client agrees to attend sessions regularly and engage in the therapeutic process to the best of their ability.
• The Client is responsible for maintaining their own safety and well-being outside of therapy sessions.
12. Liability
The Therapist will provide services to the best of their ability but cannot guarantee specific outcomes. The Client acknowledges that therapy involves personal reflection and that results vary based on individual circumstances.
13. Complaints
If the Client has concerns or complaints regarding the therapy services provided, they should discuss these directly with the Therapist. If a resolution cannot be reached, the Client can seek recourse through relevant professional bodies (e.g., HCPC).
14. Amendments
The Therapist reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions. Clients will be informed of any changes in advance.
15. Governing Law
These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
